Art & Science

Combining my experience in Hawaii and my own origins, I collaborated on projects about the gene code, mutation, and art, with Guylaine Poisson, professor at the University of Hawaii’s Department of Computer Science. I focused on the knots that modify deeply, but undetectably, our DNA. I translated this exploration on Lauhala  for DNA Elliptical

Interpretation.  I used felt forms to represent combinations of codes and

repetition and sprayed them on my Algerian family carpet . The installation symbolized Prion disease which creates the mutation known as “mad cow disease.” It is Prion Felt Transmutation.
